Brief Resume
Maurice has over 40 years experience in civil engineering contracting and consultancy and prior to forming his own consultancy in 1992 specialising in all forms of tunnelling, shaft sinking and underground works, he occupied senior positions to director level in two major international contracting firms: Kinnear Moodie and Thyssen and as head of tunnelling for Howard Humphreys consulting engineers. He has had responsibility for the construction of numerous major tunnelling schemes for road and rail projects and more recently the design an supervision of works that have included the A55 North Wales Coast road tunnels, the Heathrow Express rail link including NATM trials in London Clay; independent checking of Southwick Hill Road Tunnels, and as a sub consultant Howard Humphreys for the Ramsgate Harbour Tunnel. He has held appointments as an independent Certifying Engineer (to mediate on the value of "single tender" contracts, extension of time claims and contractual issues) and as the named Adjudicator on tunnelling works where the New Engineering Contracts were used. He is currently serving as a member of the Dispute Review Board for a major metro scheme serving on a panel of experts to provide advice on tunnelling aspects for pending Public Enquiry on a major civil engineering project (value approximately £500 million) and also as Conciliator for a dispute between the Contractor and the Employer on further metro project
